Satisfactory Academic Progress
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is the evaluation of a students' academic history in order to determine eligibility for Federal Student Aid (FSA) funds. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in an eligible curriculum as a degree seeking student.
PLEASE NOTE: In determining a student's eligibility, a review of a student’s entire academic history (beginning at the very FIRST college attended thru present day) is conducted. A student’s SAP evaluation is determined regardless if the student received aid for the course work or credit hours attempted (which includes all transfer hours into SUNO or towards a change of major or regardless to how long ago the courses were attempted at SUNO or another college.
To review your status, please login your Banner secure area to review your total earned hours and please compare those hours to the SAP Chart.
In the event you are not meeting SAP according to the SAP Chart, you have the option of completing a SAP Appeal. Please see the SAP Appeal Form and follow the stated instructions. If you should have any additional questions, please speak with your assigned Financial Aid Counselor to discuss your options.
